Silverfish are approximately 12 – 25 millimetres in length. They are nocturnal insects with a tapered body, which gives them a fish-like appearance. Silverfish eggs are extremely difficult to see, as they are exceptionally small and are a whitish colour when they hatch. After birth they develop into a greyish colour with a metallic shine.
